What is the CBG ?

Cannabigerol, more commonly known as CBG, is obtained by extraction from hemp plants. Its production and consumption by adults is legal because it does not cause psychotropic states. The effects it generates for our organism are demonstrated and approved by scientists, as much as its benefits. Medically speaking, the exploration of CBG has not yet reached its end.

CBG, are you familiar with it?

If you're an aficionado of cannabis derivatives, you're probably familiar with CBD or CBN, widely available products belonging to the plant cannabinoid family.

But are you familiar with CBG? The discovery of its effects and benefits is more recent than that of the other members of its "siblings". One should rather write: of its progeny, since cannabigerol is actually the mother cell of the other cannabinoids contained in hemp.

CBG becomes scarcer as the plant or flower of cannabis matures, which explains the relatively high cost of extraction processes and its commercialization. But its field of applications is vast and remains, even today, partly unexploited.

Scientists are constantly looking into this phenomenon that helps, there to regulate sleep disorders, here to alleviate pain, or to regulate the nervous system. Review of details.

CBG, CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) are, along with CBN (cannabinol), among the main cannabinoids contained in cannabis. These three substances act on the CB1 (in the nervous system) and CB2 (in the immune system) cannabinoid receptors that your organism contains.

But the similarities end there. The THC is a substance prohibited by French law because it causes psychotropic effects and a state of dependence. Consumption of THC alters motor skills, perception and amplifies emotional levels.

In contrast, CBG and CBD are not toxic, euphoric or addictive. Their sale to adults is authorized in France, as is their consumption, except in public spaces.

They offer generally recognized medicinal virtues, but their effects and benefits are measured in varying degrees. CBG, while present in small amounts in hemp, does not have the same chemical components and causes faster and more intense reactions on the body.

The CBG and the CBD finally differ at the stage of contraindications. They are almost non-existent for the cannibigerol user, except for a moderate action on blood pressure.

Cannabidiol intake, on the other hand, is not recommended for people with psychotic disorders or kidney failure.

How do growers obtain CBG?

How do producers get CBG?

As with many plant cannabinoids, CBG is contained in the cannabis plant. But it occurs in small amounts - it is virtually absent in the flower - which explains the lack of interest it has long received. The cannabigerol content is less than 1% of the total cannabinoids present in cannabis when harvested and dried. Why? Because it is a stem cell that breaks down under heat to give rise to other cannabinoids, including CBD, which is significantly more present (25%).

This is the reason why growers act as early as possible on young plants or young flowers, before maturation of the hemp, to obtain a higher yield rate of CBG.

Two methods are mainly used to extract the extract:

  • Extraction by distillation, to separate the oil of the plant from the other non-active components. This method is the most widely used because it is safe. It also guarantees a high purity of the product developed.
  • Ethanol extraction, which involves immersing the cannabis flowers in alcohol and filtering them with the aim of separating the cannabinoids. The alcohol is then removed by cooking. This method is less common, because it is more time consuming and expensive.

Many other means of purification are currently being studied, proof that CBG consumption is on the rise!

The effects of CBG on the body

Relaxing effects

The effects of CBG on the organism are numerous. Its strong influence on cannabinoid receptors makes it a regulator of the nervous system and gives it a role as an anxiolytic and antidepressant.

It thus makes it possible to evacuate the stress to leave the place with the relaxation and the relaxation.

It is also known for its antifungal, antibacterial and analgesic properties.

In addition, studies are underway to measure its anti-cancer properties and its abilities to combat certain optic nerve pathologies and osteoporosis.

Memory aid, which is a hallmark of CBD, is not yet demonstrated in the catalog of effects attributed to CBG.

The side effects of CBG

Side effects to the consumption of cannabigerol are rare and of a low level of dangerousness. However, overuse can cause mild appetite alteration, transient fatigue and diarrhea. For this reason, it is strongly recommended to respect the dosage.

The benefits of CBG

The Benefits of CBG

The strong ability for CBG to act on CB1 and CB2 receptors extends and strengthens its influence on both the nervous and immune systems.

In fact, the benefits scientifically demonstrated come in many forms. The cannabigerol is particularly valued for multiple reasons. It has antidepressant properties, relieves stress, and restores well-being, which makes you feel better about yourself, improves sleep quality, and fills you up with energy and motivation for the next day.

It is also a good source of energy for the body.

It eases pain and certain diseases. It helps eliminate bacteria, staphylococcus for example. It limits the risk of blood clotting. It slows down the development of certain cancers, especially prostate cancer. It allows to recover the appetite. It contributes to the fight against inflammations. It helps in the healing of certain skin diseases, such as psoriasis.

It participates in the healing of certain pathologies of the optic nerve and the improvement of vision.

It develops anti-cancer properties, particularly melanoma and colon cancer.

As the discovery of CBG is more recent - dating back to the 1960s - than that of CBD and THC, scientists today continue to explore its range of applications. The extent of its actions on our minds and bodies is not yet definitively established.

CBG may give rise to other challenges in the therapeutic field. The future will tell us, for example, if it is intended to be more effective than CBD in the fight against Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease.

How should CBG be consumed?

The CBG is not easily soluble in water. It is much more readily soluble in lipids such as oil or other solvents.

The cannabigerol is therefore most often marketed as oil. The most effective method is in sublingual ingestion because the effects on your organism are measured quickly. However, they are not immediate, as is the case with any natural supplement.

It is best to consume it gradually and adjust the amounts absorbed to your age, body type and the goal you are aiming for. On average, daily consumption is two times 2 mg if you use it as a preventive measure, once 10 to 15 mg after physical exertion or in stressful situations, or up to 20 mg per day if you suffer from insomnia. In the latter case, it is obviously advised in the evening.

The CBG can also come in the form of resin that can be either vaporized, inhaled, or mixed with a non-alcoholic beverage, herbal teas for example, and food, to which CBG can be combined in capsules.

Can CBD and CBG be taken at the same time?

The cannabigerol and cannabidiol (CBD), another cannabinoid produced by the cannabis plant, are perfectly compatible. Their simultaneous consumption is in fact recommended for two essential reasons:

Their combination increases their effectiveness on the organism because they act on both the physical and the mental. This is commonly referred to as the "entourage effect."

This combination is also beneficial to your budget. For the reasons explained above, the hemp content of CBG is low. As a result, cannabigerol is relatively expensive to consume. For this reason, a mixture of 5% and 5% CBG diluted in 90% MCT oil, a safe product used in the medical field, is frequently found in the trade.

Do you get high on CBG?

Cannabigerol does not produce a psychotropic effect, unlike THC which is illegal in France. Like CBD, it is appreciated by your organism for its relaxing and analgesic effects. In France, it is available in pharmacies and dedicated stores, but reserved for people of age.

It does not cause dependence or addiction. The consumer remains perfectly aware of who he is and what he is doing.

It does not cause addiction.

Our conclusion on CBG

The CBG is not a drug and is therefore not banned for use. On the contrary, the medical profession recognizes its benefits in the treatment of certain diseases. Even today, it is less popular than CBD, but its effects on your organism are more extensive, because it is the mother cell of the cannabinoids contained in cannabis plants.

Its application is recent and scientists are still researching to find other virtues for it. In fact, it is not forbidden to think that CBG will soon dethrone CBD in the great catalog of cannabinoids.

Don't stress about consuming CBG. You can get your cannabigerol in oil, capsule form and with confidence. Stay zen!
